SkyGrid is a paid weather application available on the Apple App Store. By downloading and using our app, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. We do not display advertisements — your one-time purchase supports all features of the app.

• App / Service: The SkyGrid iOS application and any related pages or content.

• User / You: Any individual who downloads or uses the SkyGrid application.

What Information Do We Collect?

SkyGrid collects only the minimum data necessary to provide accurate weather information:

• Location (When In Use): Your device’s GPS location is used exclusively to fetch real-time, hyper-local weather data for your current position. Location is accessed only while the app is open and is never stored on our servers.
• Usage Data (Firebase Analytics): Anonymous, aggregated data such as which screens you visit, app crashes, device model, and iOS version. This data cannot identify you personally and is used solely to improve app stability and performance.

Weather Data Sources

SkyGrid retrieves weather data from two trusted providers. Your approximate location coordinates are transmitted to these services to return weather results — no other personal information is shared:

Neither provider retains your location data beyond the scope of fulfilling the weather request.

Location Permission

SkyGrid requests Location When In Use permission. This means:

• Location is only accessed when SkyGrid is actively open on your screen.
• We never access your location when the app is in the background or closed.
• You can revoke location permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → SkyGrid. The app will still function but will require you to manually enter a city name.

Notifications

SkyGrid may send you weather alert notifications powered by Apple WeatherKit — such as severe storm warnings, high-wind alerts, or air quality alerts relevant to your area.

• Notifications are generated by Apple’s WeatherKit alert system and are not managed on our own servers.
• You can manage or disable all notifications at any time in Settings → Notifications → SkyGrid.
• We never send marketing, promotional, or advertising notifications.

Third-Party Services

SkyGrid uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used exclusively for the following purposes:

• To display accurate, real-time weather data for your current location.
• To deliver severe weather alerts and notifications relevant to your area.
• To analyze anonymous usage patterns and improve app performance, stability, and user experience.
• To diagnose technical issues and fix bugs via crash reporting.

We do not use your information for profiling, targeted advertising, or any commercial purpose beyond providing the core weather service.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party.

We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: Weather data providers and analytics services receive only the minimum data required to provide their specific function.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
• Business Transfer: In the event of an acquisition or asset transfer, your data would be transferred only if the receiving party agrees to the same privacy standards.

Data Retention

We do not store your location or personal data on any server. Your location is used in real-time to fetch weather and is immediately discarded after the response is received.

Anonymous analytics data collected by Firebase Analytics is retained per Google’s default data retention policies (26 months) and is not linked to any personally identifiable information.

Security

All network requests to weather APIs are made over HTTPS (TLS) encryption. We follow Apple’s App Transport Security (ATS) guidelines to ensure data in transit is protected.

While we implement industry-standard safeguards, no system is entirely foolproof. We encourage you to use a secure, up-to-date iOS version.

Children’s Privacy

SkyGrid is designed for all ages. The app does not collect any personally identifiable information from users of any age, including children under 13. Our analytics data is fully anonymized and not linked to any individual.

We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

Your Privacy Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Right to Access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
• Right to Deletion: Since we do not store personal data on our servers, analytics deletion requests can be directed to Google Firebase.
